A correctional officer that had the job of watching the inmates on the CCTV at Brisbane Correctional Centre is under fire after an inmate in 2013 successfully hung himself on the prison yard.

Dane Benjamin Sloan passed away October 2013. He had recently been removed from suicide watch. James Finn was the officer in question that was in charge of observing Sloan on CCTV.

According to the court documents Sloan can be seen on the footage fastening a noose hanging it from a bar and then hanging there lifeless. Fifteen minutes are in question because that is how long it took for this incident to occur and him hang there before another officer observed him on the footage and questioned why he was hanging.

Paramedics were able to revive the 24 year old but unfortunately he was brain dead. After a couple days in a coma his life support was discontinued and he passed the 6 October, 2013.
